Sydney Champions Inner West Lions Club (Inc)

District 201N5, New South Wales, Australia

Welcome to the Sydney Champions Inner West Lions Club

Lions club members are men and women who strive to make a difference in their local community as well as in communities worldwide. Their volunteer efforts go beyond the support of vision care, to addressing unmet health and education needs worldwide.

We provide a unique alternative to service club membership.

We have a few, interesting projects on the boil, and in keeping with the club ethic, they are humanitarian, fun and manageable.

We would love for you to join us if you have a little spare time, and an interest in helping your community.

Interested in philanthropy?  We'd love to hear from you.

Be a part of the change.

Our Club Projects

Special Olympics Australia

Special Olympics has grown from a backyard camp into a global movement that has been transforming the lives of people with an intellectual disability for almost 50 years. The global sporting community was pioneered by the late Eunice Kennedy Shriver, sister to US President John F Kennedy as well as Rosemary who had an intellectual disability. Today, Special Olympics supports over 5 million athletes in 177 countries.

Like Lions Champions Clubs worldwide we have a focus on helping Special Olympics. We directly support Special Olympics Sydney Inner West Club as well as other national initiatives including the Athlete Leadership and Healthy Athletes programs.

Hepatitis B Free Program

Hepatitis B affects 350 million people around the world, a third of them in Australia’s neighbourhood; the Western Pacific and South-East Asia. The virus kills a million people each year. Dr Alice Lee, a Sydney based Associate Professor and member of Sydney Champions Lions Club leads a new charitable organisation called Hepatitis B Free which has delivered many thousands of free vaccinations to the worst affected areas in places including PNG and Timor-Leste and also provides education and health advice to at risk communities in Australia. The charity’s work has been supported financially and practically from the start by Sydney Champions and we have been able to obtain support from numerous other Lions Clubs in the Sydney district.

Youth Off The Streets

YOTS is an organisation which aims to care for and help provide a better future for Sydney’s homeless youth. It also provides hot meals nightly to those in our city who are living rough. Sydney Champions Inner West Lions Club members assist in the preparation and delivery of these meals on a regular basis.
